William G. Simpson, Jr. has been with the firm since 2000. A native of Columbia. North Carolina, he received his B.A. in 1983 and his law degree in 1986, both from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He is admitted to the North Carolina State Bar. William was admitted to the Pennsylvania State Bar from 1993-2000.
William is the author of The Primary Runoff: Racism’s Reprieve, N.C. Law Rev., Vol. 65, No. 2 (1987). He received the Norman B. Smith Award from the American Civil Liberties Union of North Carolina in 1994.
Since joining the firm he has focused primarily on medical malpractice, but has had significant involvement in the firm’s criminal and civil rights practice. Recent reported decisions include Odom v. Lane, 588 S.E.2d 546 (2003) and State v. James, 646 S.E. 2d 376 (2007).
He is married to Susan Lee Simpson. They have a daughter, Jade Lee Simpson.
